About
We are a small independent, family business in the heart of the old market town Wilton.
We have a love of good quality food, supporting lots of small independent, British, food producers. We work with companies such as Hawkshead Relish, Dorset Spice Shed, Magnificent Seed, Wilton Wholefoods, The Garlic Farm to name a few. We have a great working relationship with our small suppliers - we have worked with Hawkshead Relish since 2016 and they have become really good friends.
Who We Are
Andrew (Owner/general dogsbody), is responsible for finding and tasting the artisan food range. He deals with our Facebook, Instagram page. In his spare time he loves to take photos of landscapes and wildlife which can be found for purchase in our shop or through our website, check out his page.
Wendy (Owner/Boss), is responsible for the look of the shop, the window display, monthly newsletter and having the final say on all products. In her spare time she is obsessed with all things craft related, some of which she sells through the shop in the gift area. Wendy is always looking to learn a new craft. Some of her favourite handcrafting items to do at home are metal stamping, macramé, vinyl crafts including iron on.
Karen (NicholsNaturals), is the felter and jewellery maker. She also sources the aromatherapy essential oils of which she is very knowledgeable and felting supplies. Karen makes up her very own felting kits so you can start on your own felting journey or even just expand your felting repertoire. You can normally see her in the shop on a Wednesday if you have any questions relating to aromatherapy or the craft of felting.
Other suppliers within the family
Kaz (Kazcancreate), is the quilling art maker. Handmade and time consuming but produce exceptionally crafted art and are framed so ready to put them straight on the wall.
History
Our little shop derived out of diversity, In 2016 my husband and I set up a cafe near where we live with the hope of investing into a future family business but, unfortunately, it didn’t come to fruition. My dad was also being pushed out of his career so we decided to start a sort of farm shop on the side called The Courtyard Marketplace. When we left the cafe business we took ‘The Courtyard Marketplace On Tour’ and started doing fairs and events.
We were offered a unit in Wilton Shopping Village, when we attended their Christmas Market. We were there for 5 years. During the pandemic we even decided to expand and move to a bigger unit on site and successfully rode it out. With no support or future plans for the site, from the management company, we decided to look elsewhere for the next step which was to become a stand alone business having control on our own future which lead us to Wilton town centre.
You will now find us at 8 West Street, Wilton in our very own premises. We have created something really special, with our own mark furthering our independence. This has proved to be our best move yet with reviews from customers likening our shop to Harrods & Fortnum & Mason which is really uplifting as we have really worked hard to create a lovely, welcoming environment with an emphasis on customer service. With more space we have been able to expanded our range of Wilton Wholefoods, we now have a bigger selection of cheese and more suppliers than ever before. We still have our eco refill station and it all just works! As we have our own facilities we can offer tasters to our customers which seems to be welcomed. The future really is bright and there is a real sense of community here which is lovely.
